⚡Google Conversion Tracking Setup for E-Commerce
🧑💼 Client Overview & Goals :
I worked with multiple clients across eCommerce and service-based industries who were struggling to track real user actions like purchases, signups, and form submissions. Their main goal was to set up accurate conversion tracking for better campaign optimization and ROI measurement in Google Ads.
⚠️ Challenges Faced :
No existing tracking or outdated Universal Analytics setup.
– GA4 not configured properly.
– Missing purchase and lead tracking events.
– Incomplete eCommerce tracking (missing revenue data, transactions, etc.).
– Google Ads and Analytics not linked 5. No use of Google Tag Manager (GTM) for event handling.
🧠 Strategy & Solutions :
– GTM Setup: Installed and configured Google Tag Manager to handle all tags, triggers, and variables in a clean structure.
– GA4 Configuration: Properly set up GA4 with enhanced measurement and custom events.
– Google Ads Conversion Actions: Created and imported Google Ads conversions (e.g., purchases, form submissions, add to cart).
– Event Tracking: Implemented custom events using GTM for clicks, scrolls, submissions, phone taps, etc. eCommerce Tracking: Configured purchase tracking with dynamic values (revenue, transaction ID, product info).
– Testing & Debugging: Used GTM Preview, GA4 DebugView, and Tag Assistant to ensure every tag fired correctly.
